SMS - Benchmarking
The Benchmarking tool contains a method for categorizing and cataloguing data from an unlimited number of surveys in the electronic survey library contained in an SMS database. The system used in this process is called the SMS Benchmark Coding System.
This system is composed of a series of generic benchmark jobs that have been assigned a unique code based on functionality and defined with a content-based capsule description.
When a survey job is loaded into SMS, it is compared to the SMS benchmark list based on functionality and content and then catalogued with one of the benchmark codes. This survey job-to-SMS benchmark mapping process is a one-time step, thus eliminating the need to remap the survey jobs every year.
Your company's benchmark jobs are mapped in much the same way, thus creating a link between the appropriate survey data and your benchmarks. This mapping process is also a one-time step and provides quick access to survey data in the market pricing analysis tool.
