SMS - Market Pricing
To maintain a competitive compensation program, it is necessary to utilize survey
data to determine market rates for your benchmark jobs. But, without an automated
system of collecting and manipulating this data, market pricing can be a very tedious,
time-consuming endeavor.
SMS provides a simple approach to collecting and managing survey data. It maintains
the survey data source and matches each survey job to a comparable job in the SMS
Benchmark Coding System (as described in the Benchmarking section). Then, it matches
your benchmark jobs to the survey data via the coding system, providing you with easy
access to all available surveys.
Once the market data is loaded into the database and mapped to the appropriate SMS
benchmark, the Market Pricing tool gives you the capability of aging the data,
applying geographic differentials, and weighting survey records individually to
reflect variances in the data matches. You can also price a job multiple times
and save each individual result, as well as utilize the Batch Pricing option to
price multiple jobs simultaneously.
